Understanding breast augmentation photos
There are a staggering number of before and after breast implant photos on the web. What is equally staggering as to why some of these breast implant photos would even be on the internet. The results themselves are poor or can not be interpreted because the before and after breast implant photos are not standardized. Since the images are not standardized, then no accurate assessment can be made about the quality of the breast implant result.
The best way to view breast implant before and after photos is with the woman’s photos being taken with her in the most natural standing position. So she should standing naturally relaxed with her arms at her sides. This is a natural position for a woman in a normal life appearance. This is also how a woman will look at herself while standing in front of a mirror. This natural stance allows for consistent and repeatable images to be taken.
There should be no unnatural posturing with arching of the back or placing the hands on the hips. If the back is being arched or the hands are on the hips the breast can get a lifted position or enhancement that actually does not exist. It is also difficult to arch the back and shoulders consistently the same amount every time.
Before and after breast implant photos should be taken with the camera at a position level position with the breast. The picture should be framed with the top of the image showing the collar bones and lower neck. The arms, elbows and belly button should also be visible along the other edges of the photo. This type of framing allows for a consistent ‘standardized’ photo to be taken. Always compare the similar views when looking at breast implant results. There are 5 standardized photographic views for before and after breast implant photos, they are the frontal view, 2 side views, and two 45 degree angle (oblique) views. It is also important to have these shots taken from the nearly the same distance from the camera.
When standardized views are used, it is easier to understand a woman’s characteristics and be assured that the photos reflect the augmentation result. If the views are not close to resembling this degree of standardization, then it is also important to recognize that these discrepancies. It is even more important to recognize that individual results do vary from woman to woman.
